Christmas Morning

Train Table...the favorite new toy!

Christmas morning was fabulous in our house this year. Hudson slept in, then crawled in bed with us for another half hour. When we went downstairs we told him the Santa had come and brought him some presents. When he walked into the living room he was all smiles! About an hour after we opened our Santa gifts Doug, Corinne and Greg came over for brunch and gifts. Hudson had so much fun and loved opening his presents. He started to get a little overwhelmed at the end, but did great. Everyone is taking a nap now (except me) and we are headed over to Doug and Corinne's for dinner tonight. Then off to Spokane in the morning!

Christmas Eve

Daddy reading The Night Before Christmas.

Talking to "Santa" aka grandpa Doug.

Cookies for Santa

We had a wonderful and mellow Christmas Eve just the three of us. We went to church at 3:00 and then volunteered in the childcare for the next service. After church Hudson got to open one gift (Christmas pj's), he put out cookies for Santa, daddy read the Night Before Christmas and Santa (grandpa Doug) even called to talk to Hudson. When Hudson was in bed John and I set up his gifts and then I headed to bed in preparation for a busy Christmas day.

Christmas Dinner with Friends

Hudson, Olivia and Madelyn

Hudson really figured out how to open gifts!

Dustin, Shelbi and Olivia

John, Hudson and I

Hudson and Madelyn

Shane, Mandy and Madelyn

Last night we had our annual Christmas dinner with the Banks and Tirouxs. This event sure has evolved over the years. It started out just the six of us (many years ago) going out to a nice dinner and an evening of drinks and fun. Then when Hudson came along it turned into dinner at one of our houses. Now that we all have children it was so different, but crazy fun! The kids exchanged gifts, had a diaper dance party and we tried to enjoy a nice dinner while listening to the Wiggles and eating the pretned food that the kids brought us. This is what I love about the holidays , enjoying time with good friends and family.

Santa Train

Hudson seeing the train arrive.

On our way to see Santa (again)!

On Saturday morning we went on the Santa Train in North Bend. Hudson was lucky enough to have both sets of grandparents there too. Hudson didn't like Santa (again), but at least we got him on his lap this time. After the Santa Train we had a nice lunch (Hudson even sat at the table the whole time!).

Preschool Update

Parachute time!

Guarding the train table...his favorite spot in class.

Playing with his favorite girl Sloan.

Hudson and I both look forward to Tuesdays. Preschool is on Tuesdays and it's our favorite activity all week. Hudson has been in this class for 4 month and has the routine down and loves to get to school to see his friends and teacher Betsy.

Video From Santa

A friend showed me this fun website where you can create a personalized video for your child from Santa. It's pretty cute!

HO-HO-HO!

On Saturday we took Hudson to see Santa at Chapters Photography (http://www.chaptersphoto.com/) in Country Village (yes, we have been spending a lot of time there-it's our new favorite spot). This might be one of the best kept secrets in mommyland! Honestly, I loved everything about it. You set an appointment to visit Santa, show up, walk right in to a room beautifully decorated and visit with the best looking Santa that I have ever seen. The Photographer and owner of Chapters is awesome. He let us take our time and really captured the moment on film for us. I highly recommend checking this place out. We will be back next year for sure. Well, here are some pictures of Hudson at home before his visit and in the car after enjoying his fist candy cane. He didn't love Santa, but he sure loved that candy cane!

Fly Santa, Fly!

Last night we went to Country Village to see Santa fly. We met the Banks and Triouxs at the Village Bean for coffee first. Hudson loves going to the Village Bean because they have a train table. I have a feeling that he might be getting a train table for Christmas ;). After coffee we bundled up to go outside to get some pictures of the kids and try for a group shot as well. That was a bit crazy because it was late, cold and crowded. When we (Shelbi, Mandy and I) were satisfied with the pictures we found a place to wait for Santa. Hudson loved watching him fly in, but he couldn't figure out why we wouldn't let him down and run to Santa in the dark with 300 people there. After saying good-bye to Santa we took a few more pictures of the kids and headed home. It's so wonderful to have such good friends with children. I love sharing these experiences with them.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Last night we took Hudson to Snowflake Lane in Bellevue. Grandpa Doug and Grandma Corinne came with us and it was wonderful! Hudson loved the music, the drummers, the snow, and his first lollipop, but really didn't like Rudolph. I don't really blame him. Those of you that know me well, know I don't like anyone in costume when it cover their face. It was a fabulous night. I can't wait to see his face when we take him to see Santa fly into Country Village tomorrow night. Tis the Season!

Christmas Lights

With the crazy adventure we had getting our Christmas tree I was a little nervous to send John up a ladder to hang Christmas lights. But, being that we didn't have a tree yet and it it was December 1st we HAD to have lights up! Luckily he had a very adorable little helper.

Oh, and we did get a tree and it's fabulous! I'm glad we waited. We are going to decorate it tomorrow.

Christmas Tree?

Ready to find our tree!

Still looking for our tree...

Hudson has no idea that we are having a bad day.

Mommy and Hudson

Our family

Mimosas, the best way to end a crazy morning!

The day began at 8:30 am when I woke and realized that we needed to leave in 1 hour (I never sleep past 7:00...Hudson is always up by at least 7:30) and everyone was still asleep. We were suppose to be at St. Nick's tree farm for our annual tree cutting with the Banks and Tirouxs at 10:00. I jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to start my coffee and make the chili that was suppose to be ready when we all came back here for lunch after tree cutting. As soon as I had two cups of coffee in me I jumped in the shower and right then Hudson woke up. I then woke John up to make Hudson's breakfast while I got ready. Somehow we made it out the door and only 10 min. behind schedule. Half way to St. Nicks Shane called to tell us they were out of trees...WHAT! We go on this day every year and they always have tons! So he told us to go past St. Nicks to the U Cut. We misunderstood and took a different turn and ended up WAY out in the middle of nowhere. They called and told us we were at the wrong place right as we parked. Since we drove this far we decided to stay and would just meet everyone back at our house for lunch. After I got off the phone with Mandy with this decision John told me that we were out of gas and he wasn't sure if we could make it back to Monroe...great. We decided that this day is crazy and to make the best of it and go find a tree. At this point Hudson is having the time of his life running around in the trees. checking out the campfire and saying "hi" to everyone there. We soon realize that all of the trees are not quite what we are looking for and they are about 3 times what we usually pay for a tree. We make the decision to go home, have lunch and get a tree tomorrow. On our way back to the car Hudson falls into a BIG pile of mud. So we take his pants off, put him in the car and start to head home. As we are headed home we notice that the place that we were suppose to go was very close to St. Nicks and the Banks and Tirouxs were still there. We pulled in to say hello and discuss the crazy morning. When we got back to our house for lunch Dustin came with stuff for mimosas...thank you Dustin...much needed. After all of this, we still don't have a tree. I think we are going to go out again after Hudson's nap...are we crazy or what?

Tree Lighting Downtown

Jonah and Wendy

Watching the fireworks...Hudsons favorite part.

Wow!

Mommy and Hudson

Our Family

Mac-n-Cheese!

The day after Thanksgiving we headed downtown to watch the tree lighting with Wendy and Jonah. Wendy is house sitting about 4 blocks from Westlake, so we over there and just walked down. Hudson loved watching all of the people and was amazed by the fireworks display. He had his little eyes on the sky the whole time saying "wow, dada, wow...". After the tree lighting and fireworks we walked back and made dinner. The boys enjoyed some mac and cheese while the moms enjoyed a glass of wine and made dinner for the adults. It was a great night and the perfect way to kick off the holiday season. It's beginning to look a like Christmas and I love it!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving from Hudson!

Play Dough

Hudson just recently fell in love with play dough. For a long time he didn't like to even touch it. Now he rolls it with the rolling pin and loves to use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. He gets very serious about his play dough creations-it's so cute!

First School Pictures!

I was surprised that Hudson's preschool had school pictures, but not so surprised that all of his pictures turned out fabulous! I have to say he is pretty darn cute!

Backpack

Hudson is so grown up that he needs a backpack for school. Yes, a backpack for preschool. The teacher suggested it before school started and I never got him one. I thought there was no way he would need one. Well, after he was one of the only kids without one I finally gave in, and he loves his new backpack!

Field Trip

Hudson and his friend Sloan.

Hudson loved the ducks!

Cecile, Hudson and Sloan discovering MUD!

My muddy little man.

Last week Hudson went on his first preschool field trip. We headed to Craven Farm on the rainiest and yuckiest day that we have had this year. As we were getting ready to leave I thought many times about skipping it. Then I told myself that this is Hudson's first field trip and I should just get my Starbucks and go. Well, it was rainy and nasty and everyone was soaked. Hudson had the time of his life! This was his first experience with a mud puddle and he LOVED it!

My Big Boy

Daddy telling him that he is so proud!

Asking (in sign language) for more bread.

Our proud, little grown up boy.

This week we decided that it was time for Hudson to lose the tray on his booster seat and join us at the big table. He was more than thrilled about this new adventure. The first time he sat there he kept squealing (this is his happy sound). You could tell from the look on his face that he felt very gown up and proud. Meal and snack time has been a hit ever since!

Meeting Stella

Stella and Hudson

Andrea, Stella and Hudson

Our attempt at getting a group shot...not easy with two toddlers.

Ready, set, JUMP!

Hudson loves the climbing. This is his kind of place!

Last week my friend Andrea came to visit from Florida. Her daughter Stella is about 6 months younger than Hudson. We met Andrea, Stella, Carrie (Andrea's sister) and her son Reece at Bellevue Square to play and chat. I hadn't seen Andrea in almost 4 years! It was so great to see our kids together and catch up. Stella is adorable and Hudson loved to give her hugs.

Pumpkin Patch

This morning we headed to Craven Farm with Mandy, Madelyn, Pam, Jamie, Hailey, Camryn and Chloe. The weather was perfect and we had a great time chasing the kids all over. We all went together last year and I hope we can make it a yearly tradition. Craven Farm is a fabulous place for children and they have so much to see and do. This year I think Hudson's favorite part was the animals. He loved watching the goat and the ducks.
We are headed back to Craven Farm on Friday with Hudson's preschool class for a field trip. That should be fun too!

Child Safety Locks?

We spent hours installing child safety locks on all of our cabinets about a year ago...

Driving Grandpa's Car

I have a rule that Hudson doesn't play in the car. He especially isn't allowed to play in the front seat. The other day I came out to get in the car with my parents and my dad said "Hudson is sure having fun". Hudson was in the front seat "driving" grandpa's car and squealing in delight. Grandpa has a hard time saying no to Hudson.

Preschool

Hudson ready for his first day of preschool.

Ready to go!

Cleaning the classroom....of course.

Hudson and Sloan reading books in the library.

Musical scarfs at cirlce time.
Three weeks ago Hudson started preschool. He is going to the Northshore Community Cooperative Preschool in Bothell. His friend Sloan that is one day older then him is in his class. Sloan and Hudson have known each other since they were about a week old. Sloan's mommy Emily and I met at the Evergreen parent and baby class. It's so wonderful that the kids are going to grow up together. Hudson loves the class and especially loves the singing and music at circle time. In three short weeks I can already see a difference in him in class. He is soaking up so much new information and learning to apply it in his little world. I'm so proud of the toddler that my baby is becoming.

Family Pictures

A few weeks ago we had family pictures taken by Makena Photography (http://www.makenaphotography.com/). Stacey did a fabulous job and she was so patient with Hudson. I'm very happy with the pictures. Now I just need to decide what one should be our Christmas card. Yes...I'm already planning for Christmas!

Olivia Rose Tiroux

Shelbi and Dustin had their baby girl today born 9.9.9. She even topped it off by weighing 9 pounds! She is absolutely perfect.

Preschool Open House

Hudson had his preschool open house last week. Were able to go walk around, meet the other parents and children and spend some time in the classroom. He was a a bit apprehensive at first. After he realized that I wasn't leaving him there he was fine. He loved the the playground, ride on toys, play dough and the reading corner. I think this is going to be a great new adventure for us.

Forest Park

Last week Hudson and I went to Forest Park in Everett http://www.everettwa.org/default.aspx?ID=1175 to meet Mandy and Mady. This was our first time there and it was a great park. I highly recommend it for children of all ages. The kids played on the playground and then headed to the water pad for some more fun! This was Madys first time at a water park. She loved it and was a pro! I couldn't get a picture of the two kids together because they were having fun running all over the place.

Words to Remember Forever

A few weeks ago at a wedding a woman I had never met said something that really touched me. She said "your son looks at you in a way that I have never seen. His eyes light up and you can see that he loves you more than anyone could ever explain. He truly knows what love is". This woman has no idea how much those words mean to me. I'm sure that every mom feels a special connection with her children, but I have always felt that Hudson completes me. He is such an amazing little boy that is growing up way too fast. I know what life is about now and I plan to enjoy every second! Thank you Hudson...I love you.

It took Hudson quite awhile to figure out how to push the wheelbarrow...but he did it!

Hudson watching the girls play checkers.

Luke protecting Hudson from going too far from mommy on the ferry ride home.

This past weekend we went to Lopez to visit John's grandpa Doug. Uncle Tom and Aunt Tammy were kind enough to let us stay at their house. They also had Natalie, Ari and Luke (Hudson's cousins) staying with them. This worked out perfect! Hudson thought following them around was a blast! They are such great kids and so kind to Hudson. Natalie looked out for him the whole time. It gave me a few minutes to relax...thanks Natalie!

He has the right idea...

Hudson loves books! He loves to be read to and he also loves to read. He has been reading on his own quietly in his room very often. Brown Bear is one of his favorite books (even upside down). Every time I ran to get the video camera he would stop. After weeks of trying...I finally got it on video. This makes me very proud, I love to read and hope that books and reading are always a big part of Hudson's life.

Date with Demee

Going in for a kiss!

Hudson relaxing on the couch.

Demee the little lady and Hudson.

Possibly the cutest picture EVER!

This afternoon Hudson had a play date with Demee. We met Demee and her mom Jodee at our Evergreen parent/baby group when the kids were about a month old. It's so fun that we still get together and chat about how much has changed in the past year and a half. Demee and Hudson always have fun together. Tonight neither of them wanted to eat dinner because they were too excited and wanted to play! Jodee made the most delicious butternut squash enchiladas..yum! After playing and dinner we gave the kids a bath together. They loved splashing and giving kisses. I love moments like these when I can relax with a good friend and enjoy the laughter of our sweet children.

Hudson is ready to meet baby Olivia!

Shelbi is home on partial bed rest so Hudson and I brought her coffee yesterday. He had a great time checking out baby Olivia's room. Oddly enough he loved playing with and drinking from some bottles that he found. Those of you that know Hudson...know he never drank from a bottle...a little late now. He also loved baby Olivia's pretty night light. It has a motion sensor and he loved watching it turn on and off. Shelbi looked great and is more than ready for Olivia's arrival. The bag is pack, the room is ready and there are plenty of adorable outfits ready to be worn! Only one more month until her due date. I'm so excited to meet this little girl!

The beautiful bride and I.

Yesterday we went to Ashley and Austin's wedding. It was absolutely beautiful! They were married outside in Snohomish and the weather was perfect. Of course Ashley looked amazing (as always). My parents were able to come also. It was so nice to have them there so John and I could enjoy the reception and they could follow Hudson around. They took him home after the dinner and we were able to relax and enjoy a night out. It was a wonderful night!

Hudson's New Table

Grandma and Grandpa were here this weekend and they bought Hudson his own table and chairs. He loves it! He sits and plays kitchen, blocks and eats his snacks there too. It's so cute to watch him sit there like a big boy...he is growing up way too fast!

Kenny Chesney

Hanging out before the concet!

Mandy and I playing a new game...lets just say we didn't win.

Kenny!

I'm thrilled to blog about my weekend. As you know I almost always blog about Hudson. Mostly because I never do anything without him. On Saturday I went to the Kenny Chesney concert with Mandy and left Hudson with John for 24 hours! This may not seem like a big deal...but it is. Not only was it the longest that I had ever been away from him. It was the first time that I spent the night away from him too. I had a fabulous time, but was VERY ready to hug and kiss my boy on Sunday.

Hot in Seattle!

Hudson keeping cool with LOTS of cold water!

He is very proud of his new broom.

Mommy is very proud that he like to clean!

As many of you know it has been 100+ in Seattle all week. We have been spending a lot of time at the beach, water park and in places with AC. Hudson has spent most of the time in just his diaper.

Hudson's New Phone

John's cell phone broke today. This was not so good for John, but wonderful for Hudson. Hudson has always loved John's BlackBerry. Now that BlackBerry belongs to Hudson. He was so excited that he wanted to take it to bed with him. I went to check on him (because of the heat) and I found him asleep with it at his ear. I went to get the camera, took the first picture and he opened his eyes. This is when I took the second picture. Funny boy!

Lunchtime!

Hudson wasn't so happy about falling in the water.

Hudson and Jonah trying to figure out this HUGE shovel.

This morning the temperature was 70 when I was having coffee at 7:00am! We decided to head to Denny beach with Wendy and Jonah. By the time we ate breakfast and packed the car it was 85! When we got to the beach it was HOT! Hudson had a blast splashing in the lake (until he fell). He played in the sand and chased a few dogs. He loves his buddy Jonah and even said "jo" today when I asked him where Jonah was. We had our lunch there and headed home for nap time. What a fun way to start the day!

Christmas in July

Our Christmas in July tree. Everyone brought an ornament.

Fun in the pool!

Hudson exploring the backyard.

Cousin Emma and new cousin Claire.

Every year John's side of the family gets together at Christmas. This past year because of the snow it was canceled. It was rescheduled for July...Christmas in July! It ended up being a great idea. John's parents hosted and they have a fabulous backyard and a pool. The kids loved the pool. We barbecued and enjoyed great conversation with family from all over. Even the Muse/Stein's were there! Hudson loved seeing his cousins. I'm secretly hoping this becomes the new Cowan tradition.

By the end of the show Hudson decided to realx in his stroller.

Today Hudson and I packed up and headed to Silver Lake beach for the Recess Monkey concert (http://www.recessmonkeytown.com/). I had no idea what to expect. I had never even heard their music. I had heard that they are very popular in Seattle. I figured it would be a fun new experience for Hudson and I both. We got the park and found a nice place to sit. We watched them set up the stage and when the music started Hudson LOVED IT! He started dancing and clapped after each song. It was so much fun!

Hudson trying to get Dustin's cake.
We had a wonderful fourth of July! We went to the Bothell parade in the morning with friends. The kids were in the parade. They rode in their wagons and everyone waved as they went by. When we got to the end we found our seats under a tree and waited for the big parade to start. We watched the police motorcycles and the fire trucks. Then we needed to get home for Hudson's nap. When Hudson woke up from his nap we went to Shelbi and Dustin's house for a BBQ and to celebrate Dustin's birthday. The kids ran around and splashed in kiddie pool. The dad's played some frisbee while Shelbi, Mandy and I had a chance to chat. It was a wonderful night with perfect weather and fabulous friends!

A Little Country Boy

Hudson has always loved music, but lately he wants to dance. He points to my I Pod and when the music starts he shows us his many moves. My favorite is "the sway" that is what you see in this video of him dancing to one of my favorites... George Strait.

Water Park

Yesterday we went to Willis Tucker Park. This is the park that is behind our house. It's a wonderful park and the best part is that we can walk there. They have a spray pad that runs during the summer. Last summer Hudson and I took many walks up there and watched the kids run around having a blast. As I walked around with my newborn I tried to envision him doing the same in a year. Well, today was the big day. As we walked up to the park Hudson noticed the water. He tried to run (he hasn't mastered that yet) and he fell down. He got up and tried to run again while squealing in excitement! After failing to run he looked at me with his arms in the air and a look on his face that said...get me there fast mommy! So I picked him up and we rushed to the water. He quickly joined in the fun and loved it.

Night Out

Last night I went out with the girls. I want to thank Abbey and Wendy for a fun night of drinks, laughs, and great conversation. It was a much needed break from mommy world. Thanks girls!

Happy Birthday (Great) Grandpa!

On Friday Hudson and I took my grandpa balloons for his birthday. I tied the balloons to Hudson and he was quite a sight at the retirement community. On our way to grandpas room each person stopped to talk to Hudson. He made a lot of new friends. When we got to the door Hudson knocked and his great grandpa answered...so cute. We stayed for lunch and Hudson was able to order off the regular menu. I love that I have a baby that will eat a grilled chicken breast, avocado and fruit for lunch! We had a wonderful visit. When we got home Hudson slept for 4 hours. I think all the showing off wore him out.

Play date with Demaree

Hudson and Demaree playing.

Hudson's "I can do it" face.

Hudson's "look at me, I did it" face!

Going down!

Hudson had a play date with Demaree at the mall yesterday. Jodee (Demaree's mom) and I enjoyed a coffee while the kids ran around. Hudson was obsessed with the rock climbing wall/slide. I was a bit nervous because he was up there with much older kids. He climbed to the top by himself and the look on his face and sound that he made was priceless! He was so incredibly proud. He wanted to do it over and over. He is getting to be such a big boy.

Three Year Anniversary

Today is our three year anniversary. I can't believe how much has changed in three years. When I look back on our wedding pictures it seems like so long ago. The two weeks we spent in Mexico were perfect. We are planning to go back to Cabo for our five year anniversary. I can't wait!

Happy Anniversary John....I love you!

We had the most amazing weekend! It all started on Tuesday when we drove to Spokane. Brett and Melissa got in late that night and Melissa's parents had been there since Tuesday. They all headed over to Elkins (www.elkinsresort.com) on Wednesday. We drove over on Thursday with my parents in time for the welcome party. On Friday we spent some time at the beach and then had the rehearsal and dinner. After dinner we had a bonfire and made smores on the beach. Saturday was the big day. It started off with a bridesmaid luncheon and all of the girls got ready in Melissa's cabin. Next was pictures on the beach...BEAUTIFUL location! The wedding began at 4 and it was perfect! We then had a cocktail hour, dinner and hours of fun dancing! It was the perfect wedding and I'm so happy for my brother...Melissa is amazing!

Popcicles and Pool Fun!

Last Monday we spent the day at Keri's with her kids Kenley and Jordan and Tambi and her daughter Kamryn. They had an enormous pool with a slide in the backyard and Hudson thought is was amazing! Kenley is a fabulous big sister and took to Hudson like he was her own brother. She played with him and pulled him around the pool. He loved the attention. The highlight of the day was Hudson having his first popsicle. It took him a minute to figure it out. When he did, he loved it!

Silver Lake

Today John and I took Hudson to a fun park by our house. It's on Silver Lake and it has the best playground and a beach. Hudson loves to crawl up on the play equipment, drive the "boat" and go down the slide. We brought his sand toys and for the first time he LOVED it. In the past he wasn't real sure of the sand. Today he dug with his shovel, filled his bucket and even splashed in the water. It was a wonderful day!

Fun with Mady!

Mady and Hudson after swimming.

Sharing an after swimming snack!

Learning to share.

Best buddies!

On Saturday Mandy and I took the kids swimming at the outdoor pool in Magnolia. They had a blast! Hudson had fun showing off his swimming skills and Mady learned how to go under the water. When we got back to Mandy's house we gave the kids a bath. I think they had just a much fun in the bath as they did at the pool! They played together while Mandy and I had dinner. They are too cute together. I love watching them interact...they are going to be life long friends!

Hudson has been working on walking for few months. He is now officially a walker! For the past few days he has only been walking. He can even bend over to pick something up and keep walking. It's so cute to watch him. He is extremely proud of his new skill.

We spent memorial day at the Bank's house with the Tiroux's and Kevin. The kids played in Hudson's tent on the lawn and we enjoyed good food and even better friends. I feel blessed to have so many wonderful friends that I have known for so long. It's even more exciting now that we are becoming parents. When we all first met we just kids ourselves. It's going to be wonderful watching our own kids grow up together.

My oh my...what a day for baseball in Seattle!

Hudson on the way to his first Mariners game!

A beautiful day in Seattle.

Today we went to the Mariners game to celebrate Doug and Greg's birthdays. It was a beautiful day and Hudson loved the game. He sat for the whole game with only needing to get up for a couple short walks around with grandma and I. It was a blast I can't wait to take him to another!

Houston

Ready for the bachelorette party!

Hudson enjoying the pool.

Melissa's wedding shower

Last week Hudson and I went to Houston with my mom to visit Brett and Melissa. They just bought a new house and it's adorable! They spoiled Hudson with toys, books and a pool to play in! He loved being there. We went to Melissa's wedding shower and bachelorette party. Hudson was able to go to the shower with us and he was so well behaved. I went to the bachelorette party that night and even stayed up until 3 am! I had a wonderful time and feel so lucky to have such a wonderful sister-in-law.

Mother's Day

I had a wonderfully relaxing mother's day this year. John and Hudson picked up Starbucks and breakfast while I slept in (the best part). We had a nice family breakfast (with pretty flowers). Then I had a little spa time. We headed to Overlake Country Club for a late brunch with John's parents and then a big nap!

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day 2008
When I look back at this picture it feels like so long ago. So much has happened and Hudson has changed so much in one year. I love that he will still cuddle with me like this and fall asleep. I feel truly blessed each day to have him in my life. Being a mom is the most important job in the world. I owe so much to my own mom for showing me how to be the mom I am today.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms in my life. Appreciate each day and remember how lucky we all are to be a mom!

Weekend with Daddy

Those of you that know John, know how much he works. He took the whole weekend off and we had a blast! On Saturday we went to the Tot Spot, then to Karen and Adrian's to meet baby Morgan. Then we had dinner in Fall City on the way back. On Sunday we spent the day at home relaxing. Hudson LOVED having daddy around all weekend.

Sleepover with Lily

Two weeks ago we had our sweet friend Lily spend the night. Hudson and Lily had a great time together. First we went to the Tot Spot to play, then home for Hudson's nap while Lily and I made brownies. next we went on a walk to the park and then home for dinner. Lily was so cute with Hudson and Hudson even let her carry him around! In the morning we made waffles and walked to the park again. Having the two of them for 24 hours makes me realizes how much Hudson would love a little brother or sisiter (someday).

Spokane

Hudson swinging at the park.

Ready for dinner at Clinkerdaggers!

Hudson was so relaxed in his new swing.
The awesome view of Spokane from his swing.

Hudson and I headed to Spokane last week for few days of sun and fun with grandma and grandpa. We had a wonderful visit. We were able to go to the park, go swimming, have dinner at our favorite restaurant and grandpa even built Hudson a swing! It was a busy few day...but so much fun!

Happy Easter!

Damon, Britni, Jenelle and I...love them!

Hudson after getting his treats from Aunt Kris and Uncle Waco.

Coloring eggs!

We had a wonderful Easter in Palm Springs. We went to church with Kris, Waco and the kids on Saturday night. On Easter morning we colored eggs and everyone came over for a big yummy brunch! We had a hunt for Easter baskets and then celebrated Waco's birthday. It was a very busy day, but Hudson hung in there and enjoyed all the festivities.

Fun in the fountain!

Hudson loved playing in the courtyard at grandma Corinne and grandpa Doug's house. On Easter morning (notice the ears) he discovered the fountain and the fact that he could put the rocks from the garden into it...hours of fun!

video

Fun in the pool

Hudson loves the water. He was in heaven in Palm Springs. He was able to swim in the big pool and the hot tub. We turned the heat down during the day in the hot tub and made it a pool just for him! The hot tub was also a great place to practice walking. Hudson took his first step in the hot tub with daddy! He is now taking steps on land too!

Sunny in Seattle

Yes, it's sunny in Seattle! Hudson was able to wear shorts and one of his new sunhats today. We packed up and went to the park for his first time in the big sandbox. I have to say that I thought he would enjoy it a bit more. Maybe it will just take some time to get use to? Or maybe he is like mommy and doesn't like to get dirty...daddy is hoping that he needs to get use to it.

Farm Fun

Husdon LOVES to play with his farm. He loves to listen to the animals make the different sounds. It's so cute to listen to him imitate the different animals. My favorite is the sheep. He make this funny half laugh, half sheep sound and then giggles.

Lovin Mac & Cheese!

Hudson has always been a good eater. He has always been excited for meal time. Now that he is eating big boy food it has gone to a whole new level. He loves mac and cheese, bananas, carrots, beans, avocado, chicken, pasta and pretty much anything that we give him. His favorite has to be Mac and Cheese!

Swimming Lessons

Hudson loves his swimming lessons at Waterbabies. He wears goggles and swims under the water like a little fish! Yesterday daddy, Brian, grandma Corinne and grandpa Doug came to watch him. He loved having an audience.

One Year Check Up

Hudson had his one year check up today. He is growing and developing perfectly! His length is 30 inches (55 percentile) and his weight is 21 pounds 8 ounces (35 percentile). I was surprised by his weight, he lost weight (only 2 ounces). Our doctor said now that he is so active with crawling, playing, swimming...it is totally normal to drop a little weight. As always he had way too much fun playing in the doctors office.

Yesterday we celebrated Hudson's 1st Birthday in the park with our close friends. The weather wasn't what we had hoped for...but that didn't stop us from having fun! Hudson is so lucky to have so many wonderful people in his life that love him. It brought tears to my eyes when everyone sang happy birthday. My eyes scanned around and saw our parents, siblings, old friends, new friends and many children. Having these people in our lives have made enjoying Hudson even more amazing.

Hudson is ONE!

Hudson one year ago...about 10 min. old!

Hudson today...so much has changed in one year!

The big day is here...Hudson is ONE YEAR OLD! I can't believe how fast my little baby became such a big boy. This past year has flown by. If I could give one word of advice to any new mom, I would say to take in every minute. They fly by so fast. So many people told me that this would happen, but I didn’t realize what they meant until now. Each day with Hudson is a blessing. When I wake up each day remind myself what a precious gift our baby is. I also want to take a moment to thank John. He has worked so hard to make it possible for me to stay home with Hudson. It hasn't been easy, but it's been worth all of the stress. I feel so blessed. Being a mom has changed my life. Thank you to everyone that has been involved in the first year of Hudson's life. He is so loved and it shows...he is so happy.

One Year Ago Today

Here I am one year ago today. When I look at this picture it feels like so long ago. I don't even remember what life was like without Hudson. When I was looking through pictures I thought about how lucky I was with my pregnancy. I had a wonderful, healthy and enjoyable pregnancy. I have to say that I look forward to experiencing it again (not yet). Now that I know many more new moms I realize that isn't as common as I thought. I really hope that pregnancy #2 is just the same!

Working on Walking

video

Hudson has been working on walking for a few weeks now. He is getting pretty confident with his walker and walking with mommy's fingers. He loves to scoot around the coffee table and "walk" from the coffee table to the couch. I can't wait for him to master this new skill. It will be just in time for the Spring and fun in the sun at the park!

A Day With Mitch and Lucas!

Hudson, Lucas and Mitch relaxing after our walk.

Hudson watching the boys play at the park.

Hudson was VERY tired when we got home.

Today Hudson and I spent the day with my friend Jaime and her boys. Her twin boys, Mitch and Lucas are so adorable and great with Hudson! They played with him, shared their trucks, cars and puzzles. After the kids played for awhile we went on a walk to their neighborhood park and had lunch at their house. I always enjoy visiting Jaime and "the boys". She is an awesome mom and her boys are the so fun!

11 Months

I can't believe Hudson was 11 months yesterday! Wow, he's going to be one next month - where has the time gone? This past month has been relatively quiet around our house with the holidays behinds us. Hudson is working on two new teeth and has learned to crawl "up" the stairs. He is very busy and loves playing with his train and reading books. His favorite book is Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You see? He enjoys his quiet time and our walks around the neighborhood. His other favorite is... play dates... going to the Tot Spot to see his friends.

His little personality seems so much like mine. He mimics everything I do...it's cute and makes me very aware of everything I'm doing.

John and I have been busy planning his ONE YEAR birthday party. I never realized how excited I would be to plan a first birthday. I can't wait to celebrate Hudson and our one year as a family!

Now we need to work on walking...

Swing, swing, swing!

Bundled up for our walk.

Swing!

Swing!

Swing!
Hudson and I spent the afternoon taking a walk to the park. We are lucky enough to have a fabulous park within waling distance. I often bundle Hudson up and we take the trail to Wills Tucker Park. I can't wait for the weather to get better and we can stay longer than 30 min. without freezing. No matter how much we bundle up his little face gets cold and we have to head home. He enjoys watching all the kids play and he loves the swings!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Ready for breakfast!
Pulling his balloon around the house.
Heart shaped toast with cream cheese...yummy!

Hudson had a fun filled first Valentine's day. He woke up to a Valentine balloon. He has been eyeing the balloons at the grocery store for months. He was so excited to see one in his own house! He played with it all day...in fact he is still fascinated to see it each morning. He then had heart shaped toast and water in his fun Valentine cup. Hudson's buddy Jonah and his mommy Wendy came over to play for the day. When daddy came home he cooked a wonderful steak dinner for us. What a fun way to spend Valentine's day!
Did I mention the dozen pink and white roses? It was a perfect day!

PS. Thank you to Aunt Kris and Uncle Waco for the "My First Valentine's Day" bib.

Breakfast Time

For the past few days Hudson has been very excited about feeding himself. He loves to hold the spoon. He does pretty well at getting it into the bowl, not so good at getting it to his mouth. He can entertain himself for quite awhile with a bowl of oatmeal. For those of you that know me well I bet you are surprised that I can handle the mess. It even surprised me, I love it!

Mommy thoughts...

As Hudson's first birthday slowly creeps up on me I have been thinking a lot about the past 11 months. It has gone by so fast and I have tried very hard to live in the moment and make sure that I appreciate Hudson, our family and life each day. I always knew that being a mother would be tough, I just didn't know how tough. I feel like each day I need to remind myself that it will go by so fast if I don't slow down and take it all in. As I was putting Hudson to bed last night he laid his head on my shoulder. We rocked for at least a hour. I was convinced that he was asleep. When I looked down at him he looked right back into my eyes and smiled. As I smiled back he closed his eyes and went to sleep. Something about this moment made me stop and realize that my baby is growing up. Even last month he would never lay his head on my shoulder that long while awake. It was as if we were both just taking in the moment. To all the parents out there...take in the moment, they go by way too fast!

Tot Spot Cafe

My baby taking care of the baby....so cute!

Driving the fire truck!

Yesterday we met Emily, Sloan, Mandy and Jake at he Tot Spot (www.totspotcafe.com) in Woodinville. This is our new favorite hang out. It is a great place for mommies and babies! They have a fun and safe place for the kiddos to play and they serve coffee! What more could we ask for? We have been meeting friends here once a week. Hudson usually gravitates to the fire truck. This week I caught him pushing a baby in a stroller. John didn't find it nearly as cute as a I did.

Ten Months

I can't believe that Hudson is ten months old today. Only two more months and he will be one year's old! It's time for me to start planning the big day and it feel like we just left the hospital. It feels like the days go by so slow, yet the months have flown by. This past month went especially fast with Christmas activities. Hudson had a wonderful first Christmas and was able to spend time with all of his grandparents, uncle Greg and uncle Brett. We spent New Years eve with the Ayer family and some of their close friends. This month Hudson mastered crawling and is already working on walking. He loves to pull himself up on everything. His favorite place to stand is at the sliding glass door. He also started swimming lessons and loves to be in the water. He is talking a lot and his new word is "hot" (mommy drinks a lot of "hot" coffee)! Each day he changes so much and each day we feel blessed.

My Water Baby

Hudson on the platform in the pool...his favorite!

The Pool

Swimming to mommy

Having too much fun!

Hudson and I both started waterbabies last week. If you haven't heard about it you should check it out at www.waterbabies.net. Their swimming program is amazing. He has had one lesson, and we have gone swimming a few times on our own. He loves the water. He puts his face in, holds his breath to go under and likes to swim to me from the platform. He's a natural! I said that we both started because I'm now teaching waterbabies one day a week for a few hours. I love it! It's the prefect job for me. It also gives Hudson and daddy time to hang out without me.

New Car

Hudson got a new car! He loves to drive his car (backwards). We aren't sure why he goes backwards. Like his crawling I'm sure he will figure out how to go frontwards soon. He keeps his cell phone in the front of the car. It's so cute! Each time he gets on his car he takes out a cell phone. He has a pink one (my old one) and a black one (uncle Brett's old one). He loves to talk on the phone! I wonder where he gets that from?

Hudson is Crawling

Hudson has finally mastered crawling. He had been scooting for two months. Then he began this funny one arm crawl. Over Christmas he began officially crawling, and crawling EVERYWHERE! He loves following me around the kitchen in the morning while I make my coffee. Then he will crawl over to the stairs, look up and say "dada". He always wants to know where dada is. Sometimes he tries to climb a stair or two. He usually gets nervous and slides back down. We have gates on the stairs going down, but not up. I guess that will be next on our list.

A Day with the Podolsky Kids

Lily and Hudson at the new play area at Bellevue Square.

Jack and Hudson

Lily and Hudson

Nate, Jack, Hudson and Lily

Hudson and I spent the evening with the Podolsky kids. Hudson had a blast! We picked up Lily from school and went to the new play area at Bellevue Square. Then we went home to see Jack and Nate. We ordered pizza and Lily fed Hudson his dinner. After dinner Jack and Hudson cuddled on the couch. In the morning all of the kids had breakfast together, again Lily fed Hudson. It was so much fun to watch the kids with Hudson. They were so gentle and kind. They really took good care of him, like he was their little brother.

Where is my baby?

Hudson is getting to be such a big boy. He is crawling all over and exploring everything. He loves to pull himself up on his gates, toys and the furniture. I can't believe how fast he is growing up! I'm scared that he will be walking soon. Where did my baby go?

Dinner in Spokane

Last night we went out to dinner in Spokane. We go to Clinkerdagers in downtown Spokane every year while we are here. They do such an amazing job of decorating at Christmas. Hudson loved looking at all of the snowflakes hanging from the ceiling. We had a nice table by the window and some wonderful seafood. I had my annual lobster tail...yum! After dinner we celebrated my dad's birthday with creme brulee.

He was really excited about his new shape sorter!

I still think that wrapping paper was his favorite!

Hudson with grandma and grandpa

We woke up early on Christmas day to get to the airport. It was a bit crazy because of all the snow. We picked up my grandpa and we all made it to Spokane. When we arrived we saw more snow than we had ever seen before. We opened presents with my parents and Brett. We had a wonderful Christmas dinner and it felt nice to finally be here. I had been worried that we wouldn't make it because of the snow here and in Seattle.

Christmas Eve

John reading The Night Before Christmas

On Christmas Eve we had Doug, Corinne and Greg over for dinner. We had a fabulous dinner and were even able to use our china for the first time. After dinner we watched Hudson open some presents. We put out cookies (rice crispy treats) and carrots for Santa and the reindeer. John read The Night Before Christmas to Hudson before bed. After Hudson was in bed we got everything ready to fly to Spokane in the morning.

Nine Month Appointmet

Hudson had his nine month appointment last week. He had way too much fun for boy getting shots and being examined! Our pediatrician said that Hudson is extremely social and outgoing...big surprise.
